“Start by doing what’s necessary;
then do what’s possible;
& suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
– Saint Francis of Assisi

This quote reminds me of
Caleb & my 2014 plans.
The Lord has given us plans to
finish what is necessary,
so we can move on to do what is possible {news we CAN’T WAIT to share with you all!!},
and finally, He will help us to do what is impossible.

Right now we are just tying up some lose ends
before we announce the big news
the Lord has in store for us.
{no, we are not pregnant}

Each year of life keeps getting better.
The Lord has taken me, a broken individual,
& has made me whole.
He has given me a new life.
He has given me a partner, a best friend,
who enjoys adventures as much as I do.

During this holiday season
we are spending less time on the blog
and more time with family and friends.
Posts will return to being regular
in the new year!

Our hearts are overwhelmed with thankfulness
for what the Lord has done in 2013.
We cannot wait to see how He works
in 2014.
His plans always far exceed my own.

We cannot wait to share with you His plans for our future 🙂

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9

We are enjoying all of the changes this season. We are soaking up the changing weather and the work needed to prepare for the coming change in the next 6-7 months. {for the record, no, we are not pregnant}. And as a planner, I want to sit down and figure out every detail- maybe even with a holiday drink in hand. But I can’t. Why? Honestly, because we don’t know a lot of the details. This next step isn’t something we can really plan. And this terrifies me. But this month the Lord has blessed me with two specific devotions from the ‘Jesus Calling’ that sang perfectly to my heart. {Anyone else love the devo book ‘Jesus Calling’ by Sarah Young?}. The first devo came on October 6th. It began,

 “Be willing to follow… Though you don’t know what lies ahead, I know; and that is enough! Some of my richest blessings are just around the bend… to recieve these gifts, you must walk by faith- not by sight.”

“For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

The second devo came on October 10th.

“Trust me enough to let things happen without striving to predict or control them. Relax, and refresh yourself in the Light of My everlasting Love… When you project yourself into the future, rehearsing what you will do or say, you are seeking to be self-sufficient: to be adequate without My help. This is a subtle sin- so common that it usually slips by unnoticed… rely on Me in every situation. This discipline will enable you to enjoy life more and to face each day confidently.”

“Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
 your vindication like the noonday sun.”
Psalm 37:3-6

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19

The Lord holds our futures in His hands. What He has planned far surpasses any earthly plan I could ever imagine. We must relax and just follow. Our God is greater.

Do it Anyway

feel the fear do it anyways bbb

Over the past few months the Lord has really begun to teach me about comfort zones.  I have always pictured my life a certain way. I thought I would start a career, live in New York City for a a few years, eventually  get married, end up back in SoCal, have a beautiful home, have kids… you know- the whole ‘American dream’ thing. But the more I dig into the Word, the more I truly see what it means to be a Christian {aka a follower of Christ}, the more I realize that the ‘American dream’ is not my dream. Jesus didn’t have the white-picket-fence home. Jesus didn’t have the consistent, successful career. Jesus was ready to move at any given point. But am I? Am I ready to pick up and go?

I never pictured graduating, getting married, and moving back to Dallas.  If I am being honest, Dallas is one of the last places I wanted to go. But that is where the Lord has led us.  And it has been the greatest blessing. The Lord keeps revealing little glimpses into our future and we are overwhelmed by His goodness and His timing. Most of you do not know this, but my husband and I are actually living in my parents old home. They moved to New York City and kept their home here in Texas. Moving into their old home has allowed us to save money and to prepare for the big change coming ahead. This coming change is one of those changes that is going to impact our lives forever. {sorry to be so vague, once the Lord gives us a more definitive direction we will share all the exciting details with you!!} The Lord is pushing us outside of our comfort zones and while we are slightly terrified, we could not be more excited!! God is good and His timing is perfect! While the timing isn’t right {yet} for us to share this upcoming change in our lives, we would appreciate prayers. Prayers for everything- direction, discernment, wisdom, finances, a willingness to follow, etc. Change can be scary. But can also be such a beautiful blessing!

 He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11

This is Being Productive

being happy is being productive

Happy Friday!
This weekend I plan on being productive.
The past few weeks we have spent countless hours on grad school
& our upcoming big change.
This weekend is going to be about fun with my man.
{yes, grad school & other work will sneak in there too… life doesn’t slow down just because you ask it to 🙂 }

What are your plans for the weekend?

Plan for success and you will find it! {Tweet that}

Fight for You

Yesterday I confessed to you how exhausted I am. Exhausted not in the sense that I just want to sleep. Exhausted in the sense that I have a lot on my plate and am a bit overwhelmed. So after a long day I came home and turned to the Word. I’d like to say that I come home every day and open up the Word, but that’s not true. But yesterday the Lord laid it on my heart that I needed to spend time reading His love letter. And He shared with me exactly what I needed. I’m currently reading through 1 Corinthians and the bookmark I am using right now is one given to me as a gift from one of my middle school girls. It is a beautiful hand written bookmark with Exodus 14:14 on it. This verse alone spoke wonders to my soul yesterday. Yes my days are busy. Yes I have a lot to do in the next few months. But Yahweh stands by my side. He will fight my battles… I just need to be still and let Him. We need to be still and let Him.

God is always doing bbb

I’m not going to lie- I’m exhausted. Because of some big changes in our future the next few months are going to be hectic. But I am learning there is beauty in that. God is doing a lot in our lives. He has prepared the way for some exciting changes. Are we nervous? Yes, absolutely. But even more excited!! He is walking with us and He is directing our steps. He is teaching us to rely on Him for everything. Direction, strength, wisdom, energy, and so much more. He is answering our prayers in ways that surpass my wildest dreams

Over the past month I have been writing in my prayer journal like crazy. I love looking back over past prayers and seeing how He works. This past weekend I read a lot of my prayers from the past two years. I was overwhelmed when I realized just how perfect His timing is. He has used so many different experiences to line us up perfectly for this next step. John Piper said, “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life and you may be aware of three of them.” And you know what? He is right! So many of the trials & blessings I have experienced over the past year have allowed me to be right where I am today. Ready to be His vessel. Ready to be used.

Whether you recognize it or not, He is doing the same thing in your life. You may notice a few of the ways He is working in & through you, but you may not be able to see the 10,000 things He is doing to prepare you for your future.

The more I read through my prayers, the more I see His divine hand directing our paths. I could not be more thankful. Ann Voskamp said, “when I give thanks for the seemingly microscopic, I make a place for God to grow within me.” He is growing within me. The more I choose to recognize the blessings and give Him the thanks He deserves, the more I am blessed. Not necessarily tangibly blessed, but my spirit is blessed. Abba fills me with joy. Could there be a greater gift?
